Those numbers are not arbitrary. Each price band buys a different construction, and knowing which band you are in is the fastest way to stop overpaying or, more often, underpaying for gear that will not last a season.

How much do boxing gloves cost in the UAE?

Gloves are the biggest line in the budget and the one where price tracks quality most closely.

What do hand wraps cost?

Wraps are the cheapest item in boxing and the one people most often skip, which is exactly backwards.

Expect roughly AED 30 to AED 60 for a pair of cotton blend wraps. Laaf hand wraps are AED 49 in 250cm, 350cm and 450cm. The 450cm length suits most adults, because it leaves enough material to cover the knuckles twice and still lock the wrist.

How much is a boxing headguard in the UAE?

You do not need one until you start sparring, and then you need a good one.

A leather open face headguard is AED 379. The full protection version with cheek guards is AED 399. The AED 20 difference is protection across the cheekbones, which matters most for beginners who have not yet learned to keep their hands up.

Cheaper synthetic headguards are available, and the problem with most of them is fit rather than padding. As the lining compresses, the guard starts to rotate on the head, and a headguard that moves is worse than none because it blocks your vision at the moment a punch arrives. What do focus pads and punch paddles cost?

This is a coach's or a training partner's purchase, not a beginner's.

Budget pads under AED 100 usually have flat, thin padding that transmits the shock straight into the holder's wrists, which ends pad rounds early.

Where is money wasted on boxing gear?

Almost always at the bottom of the market, not the top.

1. Complete kits under AED 150. Gloves, wraps, a bag and pads for that money means single density foam throughout. The gloves are usually flat inside a month.
2. Buying sparring gloves first. A 16oz sparring glove is the wrong tool for bag work and wears out faster when used for it.
3. Paying for leather you will not use. If you train once a week, a good synthetic training glove is the better value. Leather earns its price through volume.
4. Skipping wraps to save AED 49. It costs you the gloves.

Is premium boxing gear worth the price?

It depends entirely on how often you train.

Twice a week or less, a AED 299 training glove is the best value in the sport, and paying more buys refinement you will not feel. Four or more sessions a week, leather starts paying for itself, because it holds its shape and survives the sweat volume that breaks synthetic gloves down.
